The first 90 percent of the code accounts for the first 90 percent of the development time. The remaining 10 percent of the code accounts for the other 90 percent of the development time.

This is the bane of many a developers life, yet frustratingly it seems to hold true the majority of the time.
In the past I’ve spent the second 90 percent doing jobs that, on their own, would have taken no more than ten minutes. But fitting them in around the now almost complete codebase without breaking anything means they drag out to be a three-day job.
One thing I’m curious about is if any other areas suffer from this. I know any projects run by the government will normally fall in to this territory, both time-wise and the cost. I’ve never heard of the last 10 percent of a knitted scarf taking 90 percent of the time, but it must happen sometimes. Any other A-to-Z challenge bloggers experience this in their chosen fields?
First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Thanks!
Funny you mention knitting – I love knitting but am not so good at sewing, so if I have to sew pieces together at the end, that always feels like a slog…
And editing always feels like more difficult than drafting a story!
I’m pretty new to this blogging larkey, so I don’t really have any pattern or method yet. So far I’ve written as 7am, lunchtime and past midnight. The tech posts tend to be done in the evening while my brain is still in work mode. Though I have to say, it’s going a lto easier than it was at the beginning of the challenge.
